Award Winning Dunedin Property Management

I am very humbled and grateful to have won the award for Industry Influencer for 2023 at the The PMC | Property Management Conference.

At Dunedin Property Management we are trying to make a difference to the rental sector by building and developing a company that incorporates Māori things into our everyday operations. This includes tīkanga such as karakia, and mihi but also includes values such as manaakitanga, and whānautanga.

Largely this goes unseen in the world but one thing that is seen is our use of Te Reo Māori. We actively promote the use of Te Reo in our advertising and have developed a glossary of kupu (words) that were hitherto unused or largely unknown. Words such as "Mōtereti" - For Rent.

We've done this because the large proportion of te iwi Māori rent their homes and face an inherently bias industry making it more difficult for them to find a place to live and bring up their whānau.

I can't however, take all the credit. This is a team effort and a team award. Without my right-hand senior property manager Talaya Halbert, and our colleagues Suzanne Kloogh, and Craig Hall (Taipa) we would not have got this far.

This however, is only the beginning. This award has validated our direction forward and I want to thank David Faulkner and his team for seeing our vision.

Next year we'll be back, doing it bigger and better.

He aha te mea nui o te ao? Māku e kī atu he tāngata, he tāngata, he tāngata.
